Osram Opto Semiconductors expands its Pictiva range:
The OLED family is growing
The new OLED display from Osram Opto Semiconductors is ideal for small mobile handheld devices. Measuring 80 x 48 pixels, this graphics display is the latest addition to the Pictiva range of products.
Displays in this small size fit for mobile phones with subdisplay or for portable medical equipment. Manufacturers of handhelds and mobile MP3 players are also incorporating small displays and can now upgrade their products with the new Pictiva display. The self-luminous OLEDs provide excellent contrast and a wide viewing angle. The displays have a very low profile so the equipment can be particularly small and thin. Their response times are very fast, which means that information, graphics and video clips are shown in real time. Monochrome Pictiva displays offer clear colours and are available in Elegance Yellow, Clarity Orange and Filtered Green - each colour has a 4-bit pixel grey scale. The average luminance is 100 nits.
Osram is offering this new display in three standard sizes, tailored to various applications. Already available are a 128 x 64 pixel version for industrial and professional applications such as medical equipment, and a 96 x 64 pixel version, also for handhelds and professional equipment. With these three sizes, the Osram displays cover a very wide range of possible applications.
