New sales structure at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors
REGENSBURG - On April 1, 2003, Osram Opto Semiconductors GmbH took over the worldwide sales activities for its opto-semiconductor products from Infineon Technologies AG, its former joint venture partner. This means that the fully owned Osram subsidiary is strengthening its consultation services and its customer focus.
With its new sales structure, Osram Opto Semiconductors is reacting to the ever increasing demands for high-quality consultation services. The growing range of opto-electronic components calls for a high level of technical knowledge. This is provided by specialists from various divisions within the company. In addition to technical support, customers will have a dedicated contact in the customer service organisation to deal with any logistical queries they may have.
"We are looking forward to more direct cooperation with our customers" said Ulrich Geiger, Vice President Sales at Osram Opto Semiconductors. "With our new sales structure we shall be expanding our core competence in opto-semiconductor system solutions."
For Osram, one of the three largest lighting manufacturers in the world, opto-semiconductors have enormous strategic importance because they are the sector where strongest growth is expected in the medium term and because light emitting diodes are conquering more and more areas of application.
In this new sales structure, Osram Opto Semiconductors will also be making use of the existing sales channels of Osram GmbH. And the distribution partners established with Infineon will continue to play an important role in covering as much of the market as possible.
Osram Opto Semiconductors GmbH was founded in 1999 as a joint venture between Osram GmbH and the Siemens Semiconductor Division (now Infineon Technologies AG). In the summer of 2001, Osram GmbH took over all the shares, with cooperation with Infineon Technologies AG continuing in the sales of opto-semiconductors.
