New addition to the Linearlight product family:

Greater variety in LED modules

FRANKFURT - Osram Opto Semiconductors is expanding its Linearlight series with two new modules and an optical component. Colourmix, Flex and Optics extend the range of applications for LED modules considerably and pave the way for innovative lighting solutions.

LEDs are experiencing a boom and in many cases are the modern alternatives to conventional light sources. In LED modules which have been designed specifically for particular applications and which consist of a certain number of LEDs with integrated passive or active current regulation, they provide luminaire manufacturers with new creative freedom. Their special features include brilliant colour properties, small dimensions, economical power consumption, low thermal output, insensitivity to low temperatures and long life.

Linearlight - emphasises contours and provides coloured accents
Linearlight is a 448 mm long LED module on a rigid pcb, equipped with 32 Power Top LEDs in red, yellow, green, blue or white that emit light upwards. It can be divided into small units 56 mm in length, each with four LEDs, with no loss of functionality. It has a wide range of applications, including accent lighting for furniture, cabinets and displays, emphasis lighting for contours (for example around advertising panels on buildings) and the illumination of transparent and dispersing materials such as engraved plexiglass. With a height of only 5 mm, the module will fit even in low-profile surface or recessed units. The associated LED connect system comes from BJB, Arnsberg, and enables the module to be easily extended to as much as two metres. If modules are to be linked, they can be connected either in series or in parallel. Different colours can also be combined. Special control gear in the Optotronic range is available for operating the LEDs.

Linearlight Flex - follows every curve
Linearlight Flex is mounted on a flexible pcb and is equipped with either Power Top LEDs for emitting light at the top or with Side LEDs for emitting light at the side. Its dimensions are similar to those of the Linearlight version. Thanks to its flexibility, this LED module can be bent in all directions to give a 3D effect. Even delicate and curved structures can be precisely traced in coloured or white light with Linearlight Flex. Adhesive tape on the back of the pcb makes it easy to attach. This flexible version is available with red, yellow, green, blue or white LEDs. It is ideal for injecting light into transparent and dispersing materials, for handrails, for tracing lines in buildings and for long linear structures.

Linearlight Colourmix - for colourful compositions in light
Linearlight Colourmix is the fascinating way to compose in light. The module is equipped with multi-colour Multi-Top-LEDs which can produce individual colour tones by mixing different values of the basic colours of red, green and blue. This module can be used to create impressive lighting effects with changing colours. When incorporated in recessed floor lights, these chameleons in light will give shows and demonstrations a particularly attractive tone.

Linearlight Optics - for direct light
Linearlight Optics is the optical element for LED modules and is suitable for all colours. It reduces the beam angle to 20° or, for white light, to 25°, providing bright directional light. At 56 mm, the length of the optical element corresponds to the smallest unit of the Linearlight modules. The optics are used wherever directional light is needed, for example for spotlighting surfaces in illuminated advertising or for highlighting specific objects in furniture or display cabinets. UV-sensitive objects in museums and exhibitions can therefore be seen in the right light without compromising on colour or consistency.

The Linearlight Optics LED module from Osram provides bright directional light, for example for spotlighting surfaces in illuminated advertising or for highlighting specific objects in furniture or display cabinets.
