REGENSBURG - The Hotel Kr_global/img/Misc/News/Products/LED_OptoSemiconductor/84_small_generated (JPEG-Bild, OID = 589669)allerhof is using light to create a feeling of well-being and relaxation. Light emitting diodes from Osram Opto Semiconductors have been installed in the new well-being complex to create a unique atmosphere and turn designers’ dreams into reality.

76 metres of the Effectlight LED module have been fitted in this five-star Alpine hotel in the Leogand region of Austria, providing special highlights for surfaces and contours. The well-being complex now shows what wonderful lighting effects and unusual lighting scenes can be produced. Visitors are bathed in light of various blue and red tones. A slate wall appears almost weightless in the blue effect light. A blue-lit waterfall provides a calming sight and sound. Linearlight modules in blue and white are used here to create dancing patterns of light.

LED really shows its strengths when conditions are difficult. Because they are so small they can bring light to places which would normally remain dark. As modules they come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, which is a great advantage for interior designers. Other plus points include long life and low power consumption. They therefore save not only on energy but also on maintenance costs. Osram Opto Semiconductors offers these small point light sources in all standard colours. Depending on the type of module they are available on rigid or flexible boards.

In the Hotel Krallerhof the requirement that the team of architects had to meet was to create a sensual experience in light and colour. "The fascinating and calming effect of LED light helped me to redefine the application of light. The use of blue and red effect lighting creates virtual rooms that address our emotions on many levels" said Walter Holper.

The hotel is one of the best places for relaxation in the Alps. "We are taking a new direction with our architecture", said Gerhard Altenberger, co-owner of the hotel. "With all the options that LED light gives us we can now create many more moods than before; we can mimic different times of the day and seasons of the year and we can even enhance feelings of coolness and warmth." Visitors are extremely impressed by this new oasis. "Our guests find the room with LED light very pleasant and inviting indeed," added Gerhard Altenberger.
