D´Fly Jewellery Shop, New York City, USA
The interaction of Light-Human-Architecture.
The center of the concept reflects the philosophy of the people involved in the planning process, the interaction of Light-Human-Architecture. The use of lighting helps you to experience architecture and the environment visually. In addition, light always touches the emotions of human beings and consequently is an important factor in our well-being and health.
The idea
For everyone involved - architects, lighting designers and lighting planners - it was quite evident. This project was not only about implementing a classical lighting concept.
At the heart of New York, 47 Greene Street, something that redefines shop architecture was to be created with the aid of creative lighting and interior design.
The Lighting Concept
The topic “Emotion” is the first and, at the same time, the most important step for the lighting concept. This is where we have to resort to the oldes source of light available to humans - daylight.I t is divided into the two components direct light and diffuse light and in a second step transformed into the microcosm Jewellery.
The sun represents the direct, focusing light component. Within the planning context this task is transferred to punctuated halogen light sources, creating contrast which accentuates the illuminated products.
The sky represents the soft, diffuse light component in nature. This part is taken over in the microcosm of the shop by innovative, linear T5 54 W fluorescent lamps with 16 mm tube diameter which immerse selected areas in a homogeneous background brightness .
The second focus "Architecture/Space" also emphasizes the contrasting elements. The heterogeneous space effect results from the contrast of the technically formed functional items and the organic formal language of the genetic architecture. Its intensive laboratory-like atmosphere unfolds its fascination the first time you look through the display window.
