Siemens AG, Wittelsbacherplatz, new building complex

To reach the building at the Oskar-von-Miller-Ring from the main entrance of the Siemens HQ at Wittelsbacherplatz as well, wide-ranging renovation works in the two existing buildings had to be carried out.

 

The lighting idea
The symbiosis of obligatory and optional elements: on the one hand general lighting for homogeneous illumination to meet legal requirements and, on the other hand, accentuated lighting to give the facade a special structure.
The main entrance was rearranged and connected with a newly-created and daylight-flooded stairway.

The lighting concept
In the area of the stairway no luminaires should be visible. The effect of the architecture should not be disturbed by luminaires. To reach this goal, and in addition, to fulfill requirements the lighting concept was separated into different components:

  1. Basic lighting through the glass roof that bathes the whole area in a steady light.
  2. Accentuated lighting that gives the facade a special structure.

Additionally all components of the lighting installation can be controlled individually. This enables several different lighting situations during twilight and the night.
