Future for Hospitality
As part of the Fraunhofer IAO Inhaus2 the Future Hotel showcase project has been designed to focus the expectations and requirements of hotel guests using tomorrow’s technology. The intention was to create a coherent picture for the hotel in the year 2020 so that conclusions and requirements could be deduced for the German hotel sector.
The lighting design
A semi-automatic control system facilitated by pressure-sensitive floor mats and motion detectors provides ease of use. All light sources are LEDs.
The ample free-form luminous ceiling merges all parts of the hotel room while illuminating them separately as required. Several high-power LED spotlights complete this general lighting by highlighting the baggage space, workplace and bathroom mirror.
Light slots next to the bed provide a reading light and the room-embracing light-line orientation at night.
The LED-mixture in the ceiling comprises RGB and white high-power LED modules allowing an ambience that follows daylight or could be adjusted to any color a guest could desire.
The lighting installation
In this case technology in general is concealed behind architecture while providing the opportunity for individual control of media, light and interior climate. Some of the room’s features include anti-jetlag lights, active comfort bed, personal spa area, intelligent mirror and a large fully integrated media display window.
