OSRAM Carbon Certificates

OSRAM is directly responsible for the reduction of CO2 emissions through various projects around the world. These reductions can in turn be used to offset activities like business travel responsible for emitting CO2.

OSRAM has decided to forgo official third party verification, as this is too complex and expensive in relation to the number of projects and their respective potential to reduce CO2 emissions. However, OSRAM warrants with its name and the signature of both CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer to closely observe the rules on the basis of the relevant UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) methodologies wherever possible.

Special serial numbers are assigned to each project according to the amount of CO2 emissions which will be offset. This means one number equals one ton of reduced CO2 emissions.

Rules and Calculation

The CO2 emission reduction on basis of daily operating data will be calculated according to the relevant UNFCCC methodology. Variances within the calculation are accommodated by including project specific reductions.
